2011 Mule Days in Powell, WY

Well we ventured to Powell, WY for another great Mule Days event.  On the way up we stopped at Bear World.  It was way worth the money, the kids got to see a rare albino elk, a moose, lots of bears and even pet some baby fawns.  We then traveled through Yellowstone and saw lots of Bison, they were up close right on the road.  We also saw lots of elk with the aid of Chester's Binoculars.  Winn was disappointed because we didn't bring our fishing poles.
wildest bears we saw
how big am I?

Lower Falls

This year we camped out at the grounds in a tent.  The kids thought it was great!! We did get some rain one night, and the floor of the tent got a little damp.  The kids just doubled up in sleeping bags and had a ball. The next day brought lots of sun and warm temperatures and dried us out, thankfully.  We took the kids swimming one day and mommy was able to get a much needed shower!!
Holden tired after swimming

She packs precious cargo!

Cinderella(our mule) was perfect and attracted potential buyers.  Se looked great and enjoyed toting the kids all over the grounds.

We participated in the Parade and Rodeo on Saturday.  Lane rode Cinderella all decked out in princess sparkle and threw candy,  she was a big hit, she also rode the grand entry at the rodeo.

As for the Rodeo Chester, Ketch, Lane and myself all participated and had a great time.

Ketch won first in the Poles.  Chester won the team branding (and is sporting a new buckle), placed third in the ribbon roping with the aid of my lightning sprint, haha.  He also tied for third and fourth in the wild Mule ride, that right Chester rode one more bucking horse....huh mule.  He placed third in the team sorting.  He also placed in the open team roping.  With all those winnings Chester won 2nd in the All-around and has a new breast collar to show off.

.

Lane and I did barrels and poles and even though we
didn't place we had a lot of fun.

Sunday brought the sale and Cinderella is headed to northern Idaho to new family, our kids shed lots of tears and the new owner promised to take good care of her.  It was a great time, we saw friends from last year and made new ones this year.  It is always a good time at Mule Days....maybe next time we can have more family go with us!
